Developing an approach to refugee integration that reflects the realities of refugee life and focuses on developing solutions that are good enough to meet refugee needs, but which are robust enough to create an evidence base for change ( KMI)
Partnering for a just transition to stop drought destroying the livelihoods and futures of East Africa's pastoral nomads. Ensuring these stewards of the semi-arid regions are not lost to refugee camps and internal displacement (Green Action)
Bringing together a core group of Charities and community businesses in the UK to develop the Race Equity Quality in Transitions Exchange (REQUITE).
Whilst those in the west support tree planting for its ability to sequester CO2 the same trees can provide medicine, timber, wood for sculptors, materials for pastoral encampments, fruit, nuts, livestock security, fodder, shelter and fertiliser. Managed for a surplus such trees can provide an additional income which will support, for example, the transition from charcoal to more efficient stoves, create community Aayuto funds for microfinance, reduce landscape degradation, create community drought resistance funds.
Our work is designed to support Net Zero and the Sustainable Development Goals through our Zero + vision for a sustainable just transition
Zero1 – to alleviate poverty by ensuring tree planting not only serves to sequester CO2 but also serves to create valuable economic assets for rural and pastoral communities.
Zero8 – to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all whilst sequestering carbon to progress carbon zero ambitions
Zero 2 - to provide assistance to alleviate hunger and malnourishment.
Zero13 – to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts through a focus on community led environmental remediation
Zero5 – to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls through cultural and arboreal projects supporting a zero carbon future.
Zero15 – to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
Zero 6 - Core to our climate action work are projects to protect and provide water for irrigation, drinking and sanitation.
